These artists were 14-15 years old and their participation in the Introduction to Contemporary Dance Class at Harvard-Westlake School was their first exposure to dance. The challenge in this assignment was to create a dance film incorporating a specific place or site into their choreographic process. In this case, students used a set of stairs, the loading dock of the school theater, and a railing. Students had to work together to create movement, and teach one another their choreography. Once their dance was captured on film, all the various locations were edited together and the final product was delivered to students in Istanbul.

Paintings by artists, ages 13-15, from High School Miguel Araya in Costa Rica were gathered by Steve Yasukawa.

In the Que es el "taller"? art workshop, the students experimented with materials and instruments to create works divided into different periods and techniques. As they continue to study, students are in charge of all personal and artistic work.

The swirled paintings were created by Turkey’s Ebru technique. The artist slid the paper into a tray full of water, paint and oil to create these marbled, swimming designs.

In September 2005, Sarah Young, Flying Art’s Director, traveled to Istanbul, Turkey where she shared the artwork from Costa Rica and Los Angeles with the students at school. The Turkish students created artwork of their own as well as wrote to the young artists in California.
